What is docking in Divi 5?
This could be the productivity hack you’ve been looking for in Divi. It lets you interact with a couple of settings at once, decreasing clicks and stutters that might slow you down. As an added bonus, from my side I assume this will make Divi easier than ever for new customers to inform because there are no disappearing controls and methods.
Docking in Divi 5 it means you can move and organize your more than a few Visible Builder panels by anchoring them to the perimeters of the interface. This offers you a couple of means to interact with your workspace. Instead of opening and closing other panels as you work, you’ll now snap them into place, protecting the entire lot you want to have visible and available.
With the advent of multi-panel dockingYou can even open a couple of panels at once and organize them into tabs, so you can switch between settings without interrupting your workflow. Customizing your builder is simple.
How to anchor panels
This new feature gives you a lot of flexibility, yet it all works with the same docking ideas.
Step 1: Select your panel
As you come across a specific panel, you will decide to place it wherever you need it. Examples of dockable panels include the Web Page/Settings panel, the Layers panel, the Help panel, the Builder Settings panel, and the History panel.
Step 2: Attach the panel
To dock any panel, click and drag it to the appropriate or left edge of the display. Once the panel is freed, it will snap into place and anchor the look of your workspace. If you want, you can simply click and drag the docked panel to reposition it on the opposite side or keep it docked for quick access.
See ways to dock a panel by dragging it to the left or near the work area.
Step 3: Organize with tabs or split the hook
Panels can also be organized via tabs or split by dock, allowing you to simply transfer/scroll between a couple of panels without ever completing them.
Expert Tip: If you end up switching back and forth between similar panels, keep the panels docked and use the tabs to briefly move between them. This eliminates the need to open and close modes many times, leaving you the center of attention in your project.
Benefits of multi-panel docking
By giving you the ability to lay out and organize a couple of setup panels at once, Divi 5 means you can design sooner and more successfully.
1. Your visible builder, your way
Divi 4 was pretty much structured the way it used to be and kept customers in that mold (aside from a couple of minor tweakable aspects). Divi 5’s multi-panel docking allows you to organize your workspace based on your distinctive design procedure. Instead of switching between popup setting modes, your most used panels are always visible and can be quickly changed.
2. Continuous panel switching: tabs and docking interruption
Docking a couple of settings panels allows for easier multitasking. You don’t need to open and close many times more than a few modals while working. Snap the panels you want and flip them together in an instant using tabs, or stack a couple of panel perspectives to keep them quickly visible while enhancing. As you click on a component, your panels will populate with your designated place settings.
3. Fewer hidden choices
Divi 5 uncovers all the Visible Builder settings that were hidden behind additional clicks in Divi 4. Instead of a couple of clicks to get where you’re going, more settings are uncovered. Dockable panels play a big role in this, but other UI improvements also contribute to this. The main feature of note is the breadcrumb path within the Settings panel. We, the customers, will have to simply see and navigate to the mother or father pieces of the chosen children’s goods.
Next are the continuous web page bar (the top bar) and the sidebar controls (on the left). Each of them gives you remarkably easy access to a variety of settings and lifelines at any time. There is also a method to show/hide the default wordpress admin bar, which I find completely solves the problems.
Finally, you will right-click anywhere on the page and in an instant you will see additional choices.
4. Customizable color scheme with gentle and dark modes
The last customizable feature I’d like to show off is a really nice quality of life feature. Since there could be so many things on the web page that could always be there, having some control over how those search for you is good. The ability to switch between gentle and dark modes is simply a great addition. There’s also the option to select your favorite color scheme (orange is my favorite color, so sure, please).
It’s great for all tastes and prepares your panels and anchor spaces.
